2024 Tankwa Karoo and Cederberg Art Retreat
“Travelling slowly across the Karoo to the Cederberg was an absolute joy! Stopping to take in the sweeping views, the flora from the tiniest bloom to the tallest Protea and then to capture them by learning simple art techniques from Sharon who is a born teacher, was an absolute privilege. Each one of Sharon’s trips has brought new friends into my life who are as awed by the wonders of nature as I am, and create a supportive and fun environment in which to learn, push our creative boundaries and to relax! I can’t recommend the Tankwa Karoo adventure more highly 😀” Sally
“Signing up as a novice wannabe artist playing around with pen and water colour, this road trip through never seen before landscapes of the Tankwa, and Cederberg, sounded like the perfect mix of artistic fun and adventure. And the eight-car convoy of new friends and intrepid leader Sharon, did not disappoint. Despite a slow puncture to contend with (that also became a page in my journal), the challenge to capture on a page, the essentials of spectacular rocks, plants, found objects and an ever-changing landscape, was exhilarating. I am not sure I will ever look at my surroundings without thinking about the shapes, shades and edges of what I see, and hope to capture on the pages of my sketchbook. And those pages continue to be filled long after we returned home. This was aroad trip that left a lasting, wonderful impact on me. Thank you.” Neil M
“I recently joined Sharon on the Tankwa art retreat and what an amazing experience, exceeding my expectations. Besides taking us through the most beautiful parts of SA, she also shared insights and interesting information along the road. I loved each art class and we had plenty of opportunities to practice what we learnt under her guidance. The trip was very well planned and thoughtfully executed. I would recommend this for anyone who would like to feel refreshed and inspired.” – Olga
“The Tankwa Karoo art trip was a glorious combination of adventure and opportunity. Traveling the road less traveled was a delight. Discovering plants, geology, and geographic locations never seen before added spice to the inner journey each of us took as we learned how to keep an art journal of our experiences. Sharon is a warm, encouraging person, making this an ideal trip for both beginners and those who want to reignite their artistic passion. Highly recommended.” – June
